Hope Springs Eternal: Marvel Comics’ Sales Plunge as SJW Message Wears Thin

In an effort to promote 'diversity,' a Marvel Comics' cover in 2014 featured a black Captain America that some said resembled President Barack Obama.

Marvel Comics’ attempt to “diversify” its cast of classic comic book heroes is a fail, the U.K.’s Independent reported Monday. At the Marvel Retailer Summit last week, Senior Marketing VP (((David Gabriel))) said the addition of racially diverse and female characters may be the cause of plummeting rack sales.

Variety: “What we heard was that people didn’t want any more diversity,” Gabriel told iCv2 after being asked what contributed to changes in customer tastes that led to a drop in sales in October-November. “They didn’t want female characters out there. That’s what we heard, whether we believe that or not. …

“We saw the sales of any character that was diverse, any character that was new, our female characters, anything that was not a core Marvel character, people were turning their nose up against,” Gabriel added. “That was difficult for us because we had a lot of fresh, new, exciting ideas that we were trying to get out and nothing new really worked.”

“Diversity” is standard shadow language, and Gabriel was quick to imply retailers and readers are racist and misogynists. All this begs the question: Where is the competition that doesn’t play this schmuck’s game (and errors)?

In 2009, Disney (another fading, poor-practices media company) purchased Marvel and immediately shut down its farm talent league — its Open Submissions Policy in which the company accepted unsolicited samples from aspiring comic book artists. The company said the “time-consuming review process” had produced no suitably professional work. Instead, Disney/Marvel appeared to go in-house to feature a group of social justice warrior (SJW) hacks. Marvel operates out of New York City — another issue they may wish to reflect upon before the competition takes them out for good.

Rarely, if ever, does The New Nationalist (TNN) see much lucid, critical thinking in the comment section of news stories, but this topic proved to be an exception. Rather than steal their thunder, we’ll share their insights — and add that we couldn’t have said it better.

Fredward: It’s the stupid, unenlightened customers, of course. They should do what they are told and spend money on politically correct, over priced crap.

icantthinkofaname: Yea maybe not shoehorn it in by coopting major, established characters. People react to good storytelling, not being slapped in the face with “diversity” and being told you should like it.

Susan Antony: They aren’t turning their nose up at it, they just aren’t interested in it. Let gay people buy the comics with gay lead characters, if it interests them. Let women buy comics with lead women characters, if that interests them. You have to worry about what your core buyer wants, not what the chronic complainers want available for potential purchases.

LordHumungus: Wow it took focus groups for Marvel to realize that people think it’s stupid to suddenly make Tony Stark a female black teenager at MIT and Spider-Man a gay half Puerto Rican? Oh and let’s not forget ‘Faith’, the morbidly obese female superhero.

SuperPantsParty [in response to LordHumungus]: They could, but those new heroes would suck just like these ones.  Nobody WANTS to consume Jewish propaganda on their own dollar. It’s almost as if only white males read comic books, and this semitic propaganda is completely disconnected from it’s user base.

Niall: Ah, forced Diversity. Where instead of creating new, original characters Marvel decided to re-work long established franchises unintentionally excluding it’s core audience whilst alienating casual readers by constantly including blatant political bias.

Marvel should be ashamed. It has fallen into the regressive trap of excluding all those who hold alternate viewpoints by constantly promoting a single, real-world SJW political view. It’s arrogant and contemptible to push a political message so hard that it forcefully discourages and alienates its readers.
