MEDIA BLACKOUT: Israel Wages Bombing Campaigns on Gaza, and US News Networks Aren’t Broadcasting the Siege

Israel conducted more than a dozen bombing raids on Gaza Wednesday and Thursday following warnings from the United Nations that hospitals in Gaza were about to run out of emergency fuel. Initial reports claim the strikes killed at least four people, including a pregnant woman her 18-month-old daughter. The strikes destroyed a Palestinian cultural center and leveled a historic community theater.

An Israeli army spokesperson said in a statement that since Wednesday night, Israeli warplanes hit 150 sites in the Gaza Strip, Maan News reports. The Israeli Army claims Hamas launched about 180 rockets that landed near Israeli communities surrounding the Gaza Strip. Israel provided no proof of this claim and and no Israeli casualties were reported.

TNN Notice: If Israeli Hasbara are reading this story, The New Nationalist (TNN) invites them to produce evidence that large numbers of ineffectual Hamas rockets were launched from Gaza and “landed in Israel.” We are not interested in narratives or your gaslighting. TNN utilizes the trivium method: who, what, where, when. Nothing more.

As you may recall, during the 2014 air assault on Gaza called Operation Protective Edge, Israel bombed hospitals, U.N. shelters and safe zones, and elementary schools, claiming that they were “Hamas military sites.” These were war crimes for which Netanyahu will never be tried. Israel’s warmongering leadership claimed every Palestinian is a member of Hamas. Therefore, a Palestinian child who throws a rock is treated as a Hamas terrorist.

IDF on Thursday released footage showing its latest strikes Gaza.

Among Israel’s targets last week was a community water facility.

The following video, tweeted in Hebrew, shows mothers and children playing at a park in Gaza Wednesday. Then they hear the sound of an incoming Israeli missile. Witness the absolute psychological terror these people experience. Note that the twisted tweeter, Whipping@ShaiCohen13 — a self-described “resident of a kibbutz in the Gaza vicinity, a Jew, a Zionist” — doesn’t empathize with the women and children but rather imagines himself as the victim.

“Another video that will change everything you thought to this day about a message such as: ‘8 missiles were fired at Sderot 2 of them intercepted'” [NOTE: Sderot is an Israeli city.]

This wasn’t Israel’s first strike on Gaza since 2014. It has been escalating its military assault since at least early June, reports from foreign news outlets indicate.

On July 14, Palestinian officials reported that Israelis had target-bombed water wells in different parts of Gaza City, leaving thousands of without access to clean drinking water, The Ecologist reports, adding that such action constitutes a severe breach of the 1977 Protocol to the 1949 Geneva Conventions.

“Warplanes have targeted two wells directly, one near to al-Maqwsi area (a densely populated area with residential tower blocks) and another in al-Zaytoun, both used by 7,000 inhabitants,” the head of water facilities at Gaza Municipality told reporters in Gaza. Israel also targeted five water pipelines, which cut off water supplies to 100,000 people.

On July 21, Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire. On July 22, a dozen meters from the Gaza border fence, Israeli Staff Sgt. Aviv Levi, who was outfitting a platoon of snipers trained on Palestinian protesters, was – ironically enough — shot and killed by a sniper. Levi was the first and only Israeli killed by a Palestinian since Israel’s Operation Protective Edge in 2014, according to Haaretz. Israel claims the sniper was a Hamas militant. Hamas claims the sniper acted independently, not on orders from the organization.

Nonetheless, Israel’s disproportionate response was to break the ceasefire and launch tank shells at “Hamas positions near the fence” (aka protesters) and to conduct air strikes on “several Hamas bases, including three battalion headquarters,” Haaretz reports.

By July 27, Hamas had suffered four fatalities and lost many “military assets.” Again, Hamas sought a ceasefire. Ceasefire achieved. Then Israel resumes and escalates its pummeling of Gaza, now with a series of missile strikes. Israel claims — not Hamas — that the organization or “Gazan rebels” are “launching rockets” or “projectiles” into Israel. No evidence is provided and no casualties are claimed.

It begs questions: Is Israel lying? Are these false-flag attacks? Or are Palestinians suicidal? Are they deliberately trying to eradicate the last tiny vestiges of their homeland? What’s most likely?

What we do know with absolute certainty is that Israel has no concept of proportional response, and it uses dirty tricks. Aljazeera in April revealed in an investigative report that an elite unit of Israel’s Musta’ribeen infiltrate Gaza with special agents. Some pose as protesters or other agitators with the objective of taunting or leading Palestinians toward their own destruction, such as by throwing rocks at IDF soldiers to draw gunfire at Palestinians protesters or provoke arrests.

Since Palestinians began their Great March of Return protest on March 30 near Gaza’s border with Israel, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have killed 154 protesters and wounded an estimated 16,000, Aljazeera reported on Aug. 3. International aid workers, doctors and field medicsjournalists, tourists, women and children are among the casualties. Israel has tried to criminalize the reporting of such atrocities on social media.

Meanwhile, U.S. mainstream media aren’t broadcasting any of this. Nor are they reporting that Israel’s Defense Ministry recently ordered two cargo planes with “crowd-control equipment” from the United States. Nor are they reporting that the U.S. Senate just passed the U.S.-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act of 2018, a bipartisan piece of legislation that codifies $38 billion in U.S. military aid to Israel over the next 10 years regardless of which administration happens to be in power. Nor are they reporting that the U.S. recently codified its withdrawal of humanitarian aid to Palestine, which the U.S. has been withholding since 2015.

Why do the major news networks have a broadcasting blackout? See here and here.

  1. This related atrocity needs to be broadcast far and wide. Let’s face it, the Saudis and Israelis are joined at the hip. They sit like a conjoined monster with their feet on the head of their slave – the once mighty U.S. of A.

Haven’t seen it on TNN, but I might have missed it. The press conference is revealing. It shows that some in the US press are seeing through US duplicity and openly laughing at the WH spokesperson.

Cause for optimism? Maybe. But if one-fifth of the press are seeing through the fluff and baloney, at least twice that – a full two fifths, or 40% of the American public, are well and truly “awake”. Let’s hope this bodes ill for the powers that be.

  2. Not included in the BDA (battle damage assessment) from each of attack is how much more the world hates Israel. They don’t seem to understand that they are getting less and less friends with every salvo fired.

  3. OT but profound in the news today … Now at least 3 USA white guy anti-heroes who drove or flew to their deaths dramatically, all making statements about the corruption of our times

Marvin John Heemeyer (1951-2004), who made and drove the ‘Killdozer’, Granby, Colorado, 4 June 2004

Andrew Joseph Stack (1956-2010), who flew an airplane into a US gov’t building, Austin, Texas, 18 February 2010

Richard Russell, (1989-2018), ‘Sky King’ amateur stunt flyer in stolen plane, Seattle-Tacoma Int’l Airport, 11 August 2018

If you would like to hear the entire final 25m44s audio tape of 29-year-old Mr Russell’s talk with Air Traffic Control in the last moments of his life whilst flying the stolen aeroplane, quite touching at points, it is here: http://garchives1.broadcastify.com/15227/20180810/201808102255-590200-15227.mp3
